Switcheo maintains a TestNet that can be used as a sandbox for developers integrating our API or traders who want to test our our trading features.

Ethereum Requirements

To try out Switcheo's TestNet on Ethereum, make sure that you have the following:

  • Ethereum wallet MetaMask extension installed (We recommend that you use Google Chrome to install MetaMask)
  • Ropsten TestNet ETH and JRC tokens (the following sections will describe how to claim Ropsten ETH and JRC)

Claiming Ropsten Ethereum (ETH)

Step 1: Install MetaMask, and generate an Ethereum account (or use an existing one).

Step 2: Go to https://faucet.metamask.io and click “request 1 ether from faucet” a few times.

Each click gives 1 ETH — don’t click too many times or your will be blacklisted!

Step 3: Verify that you have received your ETH in your wallet by selecting the Ropsten TestNet. It may take awhile before your transaction appears.

Click on the dropdown and make sure “Ropsten Test Network” is selected to view your balance on the Ropsten TestNet

Claiming Ropsten ERC-20 JRCoin (JRC)

Step 1: Navigate to the JRC token contract

Navigate to the JRC token contract on Etherscan here (make sure you’re on the “Write Contract” tab): https://ropsten.etherscan.io/address/0xc6e36e1d6f3dc19ec734246d7d0435bf04117c85#writeContract

Step 2: Connect MetaMask

Click the “Connect with Metamask” button and approve / unlock MetaMask.

Step 3: Mint JRC TestNet tokens

Scroll down to “3. mint” and key in your Ethereum address in the “_to (address)” field.

Key in the amount to mint under “_amount (uint256)”.

Note: The TestNet token has 18 decimal places, and the amount must have 18 “0”s behind. (e.g: If you wish to mint 100 JRC tokens, you will need to enter 20 zeroes, i.e. “100000000000000000000”)

Click on “Write”.

Step 4: Confirm the transaction via MetaMask

When you’ve clicked the “Write” function, a MetaMask notification would appear. Click on the “Confirm” button, and you should receive your tokens shortly.

Again, make sure you’re on the Ropsten TestNet when checking token transactions on TestNet.

3. Access Switcheo TestNet
